Feature: Spotlight on HollywoodCallie Khouri
|
Thelma & Louise, starring Susan Sarandon, Geena Davies and then-newcomer Brad Pitt, isn't your average road movie. Never was, never will be. The 1991 buxom buddy movie with a twist, penned by Callie Khouri who took home an Oscar and a Golden Globe for the chicks with guns saga also makes for a sexy DVD package - including an alternate ending by director Ridley Scott and Commentary from Davis, Sarandon and Khouri. What was it like getting you gals together again to record the Commentary? "Well, any excuse to see the two of those knuckleheads, I love them so much. It was really a lot of fun." We often hear stories about how the Margaritas and beer flow during those recording sessions "They didn't give us anything! We had water. Now I wanna do it again." Thelma & Louise is the film that established Brad Pitt as a force to be reckoned with. Any stories to share about him? "OK. The first time I went to the set they hadn't cast the JD character yet and they'd already started shooting. Anyway, I went to the set, and they said they cast the guy and he's here. So, I go over and I knock on this honey wagon' door and the door opens and Brad Pitt is standing there, and I was like, Hi'. And then I kind of walked away in shock. I was like, Wow, they did a really good job. Where did they find that guy?' And Brad was just so great. He was just so perfect. You know when you think about something for a long time and a person has to be applied to it, sometimes there's a little, Oh, that wasn't exactly what I was thinking'. But with Brad it was like, Oh my God well done!'" by Gayl Murphy |
