Who are They?
Do you like scary movies? The Canadian-born actress played heroine Sydney Prescott in the Screams, the most influential horror series since Halloween. Not bad for your first major film role. Like many of the new generation of young actresses, she first found fame in a glossy teen TV show (Party of Five) alongside fellow scream queen Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Most Likely to Play
Traumatized teenagers taking on cine-literate nut-bags in a spunky fashion.

Best Features
An engaging screen presence and the ability to play characters as simultaneously tough and vulnerable.

Fashionable Role in Teen Horror Film
Haven’t you been paying attention?

In the Flesh
Discarded top in thriller Wild Things, but kept back to camera in an audience teasing manner.

Oops!
Gay misunderstanding love triangle comedy Three to Tango was pretty weak, although she looked sexy and relaxed in a romantic lead opposite Chandler, sorry, Matthew Perry.

Best DVD
At the risk of sounding predictable, Scream.

Must See Moment
The crowd-pleasing bit where Neve smacks Courteney Cox in the chops.

Kirsten Dunst

Who are They?
Charming actress specializing in screen underdogs. Made an amazing début as a bloodsucker in Interview With the Vampire and has impressed with deft comic performances in Dick, Drop Dead Gorgeous and Bring It On.

Most Likely to Play
Clean, wholesome and somewhat naive girls winning out against all the odds.

Best Features
Endearing presence and great comic timing.

Fashionable Role in Teen Horror Film
Not really. Interview With the Vampire hardly counts as a mindless, toungue-in-cheek slashfest.

In the Flesh
She’s a bit young for all that! Mind you, a recent pictorial in the American Maxim was pretty saucy.

Oops!
No stinkers to date. The young starlet seems to have a knack of picking the good projects from the bad.

Best DVD
There’s lots to choose from. But beauty pageant mockumentary Drop Dead Gorgeous just about wins for having an amazingly high laugh quotient.

Must See Moment
Kirsten trying to impress the judges with the silliest hat in the world.

Other DVDs:
Interview With the Vampire
, Dick, The Virgin Suicides.

Coming Up:
The Cat’s Meow, Peter Bogdanovich’s new drama about Citizen Kane inspiration William Randolph Hurst..

Who are They?
Grabbing audience attention with early roles in Mermaids and two Addams Family outings, this exceptionally gifted actress is rarely off the screen, particularly impressing with offbeat performances in such small winners as The Opposite of Sex and Buffalo ’66 as well as more mainstream hits like Sleepy Hollow.

Most Likely to Play
Wise-beyond-their-years women with a penchant for eccentric men.

Best Features
A captivating performer with eyes that seem to hold dark secrets.

Fashionable Role in Teen Horror Film
Not as such, though managed to keep her head when all around were losing theirs in Tim Burton’s Gothic masterpiece Sleepy Hollow.

In the Flesh
Undressed off-camera for The Opposite of Sex and Buffalo ’66. More cleavage in the latter.

Oops!
Has disposable cameo in ludicrous new supernatural thriller Bless the Child.

Best DVD
Tim Burton’s ravishing Sleepy Hollow, the most atmospheric horror film in years. Ricci looked every inch the fairy tale princess.

Must See Moment
A blindfolded Christina plants a kiss on Johnny Depp and immediately captures his heart.

CHRISTINA RICCI
