Feature: Shivers #100Almost #100!
Something's coming, something wonderful |
Excitement is growing for the upcoming centenary edition of Shivers. Our hundredth issue, in full colour, will feature a number of exclusive interviews and fantastically frightening photos. Victor Salva talks to us from the set of Jeepers Creepers 2, the eagerly-awaited follow-up to his chilling hit of last year. As part of this first-look behind-the-scenes feature, Shivers’ Alan Jones also speaks to actor Jonathan Breck, who returns as the sinister Creeper Rock star-turned-director Rob Zombie talks about the making of his no-holds-barred Heavy Metal Horror movie House of 1,000 Corpses. This film was commissioned by Universal who, after 70 years making Horror movies, decided that this film was too horrific even for them. We look at the fate of the film, and how Zombie’s gory epic truly rose from the dead…! A strong presence in the last 50 issues of Shivers, Buffy The Vampire Slayer continues to be a major influence on the current Horror scene. Acclaimed writer and Shivers Buffy reviewer Keith Topping looks back at seven years of the series, plus there’s more news on the upcoming season. There’s also a full report from the Lupo Fright Fest, held recently in London’s Leicester Square, showcasing some of the most recent Horror movies. Find out more about Bill Paxton’s directing début Frailty, outrageous French demon-slaying fantasy Bloody Mallory, Japanese shocker Dark Water (from director Hideo Nakata, the genius behind the original Ring) and the stylish Spanish giallo thriller Tuno Negro (Dark Minstrel). Plus The League of Gentlemen discuss their love of Horror and their upcoming BBC series – and their plans for a film – we have a look back at 100 issues of Shivers and a set report from Halloween: Resurrection. Shivers #100 is published on 3rd October – see you then! by David Miller |
