The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
Tim Burton will direct Sleepy Hollow, scripted by Seven man Andrew Kevin Walker, based on the classic 1819 terror tale by Washington Irving. The romantic Horror film will focus on Professor Ichabod Crane whose wild theories get him discredited and exiled to a New York hamlet where he happens upon the Headless Horseman myth. But will anyone believe his latest story of a ghostly ghoul stealing heads to see which one fits him best?

Planet Argento

Suspiria burger with Tenebrae fries anyone? Dario Argento has teamed up with business partner Umberto Ferri to open a theme Horror restaurant in the heart of Rome. Argento told the Italian press, “The atmosphere and décor will take inspiration from the sets and storylines of my films”. Ferri is the brains behind the Transylvania Rock Café chain – there’s one in London’s West Hampstead – where ‘Bloody Mary’ cocktails are served by ‘vampires’.

Jaws Wars
Ernie Hudson and Casper Van Dien will team up for director Bob Misiorowski’s Shark Attack to be filmed in the same area the latter Starship Troopers hero filmed Tarzan and the Lost City. The story deals with genetic engineering experiments on sharks which cause them to destroy the African coastline. Hudson plays a ruthless property dealer who buys up the devastated land cheap in the wake of the destruction.

Killer 'B's
If the Fantasm Festival hasn’t sated your appetite for Big Screen Fantasy, then head to the Barbican Centre in London for a further fix in August. The Barbican mounted that impressive Hammer retrospective a couple of years back and are now celebrating the cult, kitsch and schlock of Fifties American B movies. Amidst such classic fare as Don Siegel’s Invasion of the Body Snatchers, William Castle’s The Tingler, Jack Arnold’s The Creature from the Black Lagoon and Andre De Toth’s House of Wax (both presented in 3D) will be I Was a Teenage Werewolf, Plan 9 from Outer Space and the Roger Corman trio The Little Shop of Horrors, The Man with the X-Ray Eyes and Attack of the Crab Monsters. Further reason to attend may be the mini-season of platinum blonde glamour puss Mamie Van Doren movies. Call 0171 382 7000 for information.
