"I don't think there is
anybody better for the role of Lara than Angelina. She was the only problem we
didn't have on the movie. It could not be a more
physically demanding role for an actress, and she trained like crazy for it.
She did a lot of her own stunt work, a lot of dangerous things. Big action
movies are very dangerous, and she was a real pro. She was injured a couple of
times and kept going."

"The first few weeks
of this film, when I was in training, I spent one night sitting in the bathtub
with all my bruises and a cut knee, crying and thinking, 'What am I doing? I'm
not going to be able to pull this off.' I couldn't get the guns even. I kept
hitting myself with my braid! When I did the bungy jump I kept swinging back
and forth, hitting the wall. But when you keep doing it, and finally
accomplishing it, it's a great feeling. I've always been ridiculously fearless
to a fault."

"Lara Croft has this huge fan
base. People know her mainly by what she looks like, and we knew we needed
someone that had the physical attributes. But also I wanted someone who could
act, because I didn't want this to be a cartoon. Angelina has this tomboy side
to her, which means that the action was believable. I didn't realize how much
she'd be able to do, and I certainly didn't cast her with the idea that she was
going to have to do her own stunts, but she became willing to do them, and once
we put her through this big training program, she was able to do all of
them."

JOLIE on recreating the physical attributes of her character:
"This has been the big
question, so this is the way I answer it. (My bra size is) 36C - in the film,
I'm a 36D. In the game she's a 40 DD, with a 20-inch waist, and 35-inch hips. I
have a regular waist, regular hips, so we basically gave her a padded bra. I'm
fine with my breasts, and I don't think that's something that little girls
should look at and think, 'I should be that,' and get breast
implants."
